Sacred Sunday – Waging Peace – A Film Fest Gathering with Marilyn Green
January 14 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm UTC-4
The Sacred Dance Guild continues to offer Sacred Sunday experiences monthly – generally on the 2nd Sunday and generally at 7:30 pm Eastern time! In January our “regular” Sacred Sunday will be the 3rd week (see event Jan. 21st); however we are having this special “Film Fest” evening on January 14th! These sessions are intimate and interactive offerings that are free to the participants, gifted to the Sacred Dance Guild “village” by the presenter and coordinated by the SDG as a way to CONNECT us one to another! NOTE: time showing is Eastern – DO check time in your local time zone!!
To register for this even send an email to email@example.com with “Sacred Sunday Waging Peace” in the subject line.
On this Sacred Sunday we’ll experience a new multimedia performance by the Trinity Movement Choir that was inspired by the installation artwork Conversations with Angels by Ann McCoy. McCoy’s original work featured radiant projections on the site of Majdanek, a former Nazi concentration camp in Poland where 235,000 women, Jews and Catholics, were put to death during World War II. Using simple shadow projectors, McCoy cast radiant images throughout one of the camp barracks on sheets hung at intervals, with benches facing both walls and mirrors to allow visitors to reflect the images into their own hearts. In the Movement Choir performance, 12 of McCoy’s images inspire meditative dance pieces, set to music from Canadian composer Debbie Danbrook and coordinated by Movement Choir Director Marilyn Green. The pre-recorded 35-minute dance performance was run on a continuous loop during at St. Paul’s Chapel in New York City on December 8 and 9. On this Sacred Sunday we will watch the video and then have a time for talkback with Marilyn and some of the dancers. Our amazing musician/composer Debbie Danbrook will also be with us with live music to contemplate and move to and we will have a short “movement” segment for each of us to “wage peace” personally and collectively.
We are blessed to have Marilyn gifting us her presence with a generosity of spirit that flows through the Sacred Dance Guild village!
