Sacred Sunday – August 10

August 10, 2025 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Swing, Sway, Swirl, and Stillness: God’s Recreation Fundamentals of Personal Movement Prayer

with Diana Turner-Forte

This class arose out of a need to identify simple tools for congregations to explore and feel more comfortable with embodied prayer. By introducing basic principles of dance and connecting them to spiritual qualities, the elements or sounds (E-motion), participants are able to feel more comfortable with their bodies as human-spiritual vessels. The vocabulary is freeing and is designed for all ages, with some modification.

DIANA TURNER-FORTE is a sacred dancer, holistic health practitioner, and spiritual writer. Her interest in sacred and liturgical dance, ritual, celebration, and the holiness of the human form as a vehicle for prayer spans most of her life. She conducts private, small group classes and workshops that enable participants to explore the synergistic wholeness of body, mind, and soul through movement and to discover their innate healing power. This has led to explorations of the Divine Feminine and awakened her interest in exploring long-forgotten aspects of the sacred feminine experience throughout history. She’s professed in the Third Order Society of St. Francis (TSSF).

Her blog, Wonderfully Human, is a collection of reflections on the intersection between spirit, the human form, and nature. Diana’s essays have been published in Stance on Dance, Universal Life Magazine, Kosmos Journal, and other periodicals. Her most recent contribution, “God’s in Me, Too!” was published in Experiencing God: Faith Narratives of Episcopalians. Diana’s short collection of poems and essays, The Cosmic Pause: Poetry and Prose for a Time of Transformation, is available through her website: www.dianaturnerforte.com. She resides in North Carolina with her husband and pet schnauzer.
