To register send an email to pres@sacreddanceguild.org with “Sacred Sunday – Dreaming” in the Subject line.

You are all invited to a very special Mother’s Day as Marianne takes us on a journey of discovery to develop a deeper appreciation about the internal landscapes of the perinatal…. something we all know something about from our own personal experiences….  We will journey together through voice, music and movement into the 10 domains of the birth experience honoring Divine Mother and Divine Child.  This can be both in the physical sense with the actual birthing experience and in the metaphorical sense as it applies to all that we birth in our time in the physical.

  1. The Sacred/The Unified Field of Unlimited Potential
  2. The Amniotic Universe and connection to deep space
  3. Oceanic Bliss and connections to the oceans and aquatic environments/water
  4. The Toxic Womb
  5. Labour begins – gently prepare and nourish ourselves for the journey ahead
  6. Labour intensifies – ride the waves of contractions and rest profoundly in the space in between
  7. Transition – Chaos – leaning into change and letting go of the familiar to step into the unknown
  8. Ecstatic Reunion – rebirth, resting back in the arms of the Mother
  9. What if she isn’t there – abandonment, rejection,
  10. Remembering where we came from, home again but different. Transformed/Reborn….. new beginnings – stepping with confidence into the unknown

Marianne Wobcke is an Indigenous Artist, Midwife and Registered Nurse, born on Turrbal land with maternal connections to Girramay mob in North Queensland. Marianne enrolled in the Queensland College of Art’s (QCA) unique program where she explored her passion for the healing potentials of art. She graduated with First Class Honours in 2009 and was awarded life membership to QCA Golden Key.   Marianne created holistic practices called “Perinatal Dreaming” and “Understanding Country”, using art and culture to support ATSI mums and their babies. She worked as part of Australia’s first urban based, Australian Nurse Family Partnership Program – providing an educational and relationship-based program, visiting first time Indigenous mums during pregnancy, through until the child’s 2nd birthday. Her process for working with women, their babies and families uses art as a tool for empowerment and creative expression. With over 40 years of diverse experience, working with birthing and dying clients; Marianne is passionate about inspiring and supporting clients in exploring and expressing their unique creativity. She speaks at national and international conferences and writes about her work in science and industry journals, endorsing the role arts in community plays in holistic wellbeing.   As this year’s recipient of the 2021 Australia Council “Ros Bower Award for Community Arts and Cultural Development” for her pioneering work using art to create culturally safe birth practices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, her inspiration to many has been recognized. Demonstrating her ongoing commitment to her profession, culture and art, Marianne is currently a PhD Candidate at Griffith University, School of Health Science and Social Work and QCA, continuing her research into the connection between art, holistic health and wellbeing.

The Sacred Dance Guild is blessed to have Marianne gifting her presence with us leading this Sacred Sunday session.  During this period when we are emerging from a time where our lives changed in ways we couldn’t have imagined, we continue our personal, collective and global mind/body/spirit connection.  We are grateful for those who lead us on these journeys of discovery as we dance on waves of grace together.  We will be using ZOOM for Sunday’s sessions.
