Dear Local Network Leaders,
It was wonderful for our Board to dance and talk with those of you and your Local Network who were able to attend our delightful 2012 Festival: Dance A World Of Hope!

It's going on a couple of years (yes, already!) that we began making the changes from Chapters to Local Networks and we just wanted to check in with our remaining Local Networks; with you and your members. There have been no new ones and our remaining ones are: Hawaii, Ontario, Colorado, Potomac, and NY/Conn.

Our website, under Local Networks, has all the how to's and forms both for those who want to form a new Local Network and for those who are use to the old Chapter versus the new Local Network ways. Please let your members know that everything is on the web. Note too that you each have a Board Consultant assigned to your Local Network and we would be glad to answer any questions and discuss issues concerning Local Networks: Wendy for Ontario/New York and myself for Hawaii/Colorado/Potomac.

Here are some reminders about how our Local Networks system works best:

  1. Check for the right contact info under your Local Network listing on our website's Local Network page. Let me know if we need to make any changes to it. We need to make sure that your Guild Representative contact name is current.
  2. Keep on sending us your newsletters and workshop flyers so we can post them on our website. Let everyone know what your Local Network is doing through Journal Articles, our SDG Facebook Group, and our Local Network website pages. You can submit your events yourselves for our Event Calendar.
  3. The only forms or reports you need to fill out for us these days are simple Workshop Forms also available on our website's Local Network Pages. Please send these to us within 30 days of having completed your workshops/events. Don't forget to send these to us. It's important for both our nonprofit and IRS status's.
  4. You can cover your Local Network events with our SDG Insurance. Contact us for the specific info needed for our Insurance Company because we can not put this info on our website. Do bear in mind that every time you use SDG's Insurance, it costs us an extra $35.00.
  5. Our Local Networks/Chapters have mainly not made enough yearly nor gives the international organization any amount of money so as to be under the IRS radar or in our financials. If this changes, you will need to be more diligent about reporting your income (through the workshop form) so that it is on our books and IRS forms and in our bank account (50% of any profit made over $50) and then you can use our Nonprofit Tax ID #, which can not be listed on our website. The other choice is that you might want to be a part of a more local nonprofit organization such as a church. This remains a real fuzzy issue because we are still considered an organization with "local clubs that have their own bank accounts but that don't make any money for the organization".
  6. Please note that if you have a single donation of over $250, we have a legal letter that needs to be sent out and then the donator can declare it on their taxes under SDG's nonprofit International status. We will need to know the amount of $'s given, address and name of the donor. You can keep the donation in your local account due to the fact that if your Local Network ever folds, all remaining moneys in that bank account will go to SDG International Organization.
  7. You can find out if any new members have joined in your area by going to our Members Only Membership Directory and doing a simple search for your geographical area. When SDG has greatly expanded its membership, we will be able to "ping you", but until then you can check for new members in your area as often as you want to.
  8. As you all know, to continue on as a Non profit that supports you as a Local Network, we have to have both increased numbers of "movers and moneys". Please do what you can as a Local Network to recruit both members/volunteers and moneys for SDG as an international organization. Don't forget that our SDG logo & motto needs to be on all your promotional publications/ flyers, etc. and that you can get both off of our website, as well as the member seal. We do encourage you to connect and sponsor events with other appropriate organizations in your locality's which helps to spread SDG into new areas.

Thank YOU for all the "Dancing The Sacred, Moving The World" work that you all do in your local areas. Let Wendy and I know if you have any more questions and concerns regarding Local Networks..

Dear Local Network Leaders,
Your SDG Sacred Dancing Board sends you 2012 Greetings and hopes you are all dancing up warm winter days!

Now that you all have had time to digest our new system for community Sacred Dance Guild leadership, let me reaffirm some of the ways we are supporting one another:

Be sure to go to our website's Local Network page and:

  1. Check for the right contact info under your Local Network listing. Let me know if we need to make any changes to it.
  2. Keep on sending us your newsletters and workshop flyers so we can post them there.
  3. The only forms or reports you need to fill out for us these days are simple Workshop Forms also available there. Please send these to us within 30 days of having completed your workshops/events.
  4. You can submit your events yourselves for our Event Calendar.
  5. Please join us on Facebook and let everyone know what your Local Network is up to. We have almost 200 FaceBookers and many of them are not, yet, official SDG members. It is where many are checking us out these days and your presence on it is recommended.
  6. You can find out if any new members have joined in your area by going to our Members Only Membership Directory and doing a simple search for your geographical area. When SDG has greatly expanded its membership, we will be able to "ping you", but until then you can check for new members in your area as often as you want to.
  7. Wendy is NY's and Ottawa's Board Consultant and I am Hawaii's, Colorado's, Potomac's, and Northern CA's. Please contact us if you have any questions or ideas to share. Also, we encourage you all to contact one another via this e-mail list if you wish to share ideas, etc.
  8. The link to our new Promo Video is http://www.sacreddanceguild.org/promovideo.htm. It's also on YouTube. Please help us to spread the word by sending it out to your family, friends, churches and other organizations.
  9. We encourage you to consider one of your Local Networkers becoming a part of SDG's Board of Director's for July 2012.

We're looking forward to "Dancing a World of Hope" with you all July 24-29 in Holland Michigan at Hope College for Festival 2012. Be sure to keep on buzzing in on our ever-evolving WEBSITE for all the latest www.sacreddanceguild.org!!

Thank YOU for all the "Dancing The Sacred, Moving The World" work that you all do in your local areas...

Hi Everyone,
I hope you all have had time now to dance from being a "Chapter" into becoming a "Local Network", checking out all our Local Network information on our website and letting us know your questions. This e-mail is to simply check in with you all and share more about all the changes.

One of the biggest changes has been that there will be no more rebates and that SDG will receive 50% of your future local workshop profits. We've been asked "why?" As simply put as possible, the world and SDG has greatly changed over the years. While SDG's yearly budget has more than tripled, even without a salaried Executive Director (which we will have to have in the future for SDG to continue), its only way of making an income, membership, has not. In fact, it has gone the opposite way. That is why we have expanded our programs and are now working on expanding our membership and other ways to bring in the necessary income to be able to continue to resource, network, and educate Sacred Dance, on the local, national, and international levels.

As you continue to transition from the Chapter Structure to Local Networks, be sure to start (or continue) to use: our SDG logo on your publicity, our Liability and Photo Release Forms, our Insurance for your LN events, our Online Membership Directory to find Sacred Dancers in your area, our Event Calendar, Facebook, Journal, & Local Network Newsletters to post your events, our Traveling Workshops and Presenter Package Rosters, as well as Resource Library and Business Directory to find resources to use...

We want to post your event photos and write ups on our Website and in our Journals. Let us know if you have a Facebook Page or Website as a Local Network so we can also post this on our SDG website. We always will want Local Network Sacred Dancers to volunteer for our SDG Board of Directors, to teach at/share/ and help us to produce our Festivals, to sign up as Traveling Workshop Presenters/Coordinators and to help coordinate SDGO Benefit Events.

And of course, your SDG Board of Directors is here for you to share ideas of how to spread Sacred Dance far and wide in "Dancing the Sacred, Moving the World" together...

SDG President for your Board of Directors
