"Weaving Webs of Light" Workshop
August 16-17, 2014
Ottawa, Ontario- Canada
Facilitator: Cherie Hill

The logo symbolizes the continuity of life, the weaving dancers illustrating our inter-connectedness and our personal, collective and global journey to our spiritual centre. This logo came alive during the event as Sacred Dance Guild Presenter/facilitator Cherie Hill led over 40 dancers through moments of peace, grace, laughter, pain, joy, sadness and all things between. From the gentle opening on Saturday morning as we imagined the light to the haunting sounds of Ian Hepburnā€™s harp to the wild sparks that flew here, there and everywhere during the afternoon African dance section with the pounding of Jeremy Wrench's drum beat to learning Debbie Allen's choreography to "Break the Chain""for 1 Billion Rising to the hypnotic intensity of Anna Halprin's Planetary Dance in the evening to the gentle sounds of Zen of from Debbie Danbrook's Shakuhachi flute and the amazing crystals of light from the Trinity Movement Group during the Moving Mandalas closing celebration at Strathcona Park. As summarized by one of the participants "WOW! It was perfect! All in all I could go on and on about how special it is to gather with like minded people and be able to move together".

International Festivals!
The Sacred Dance Guild also sponsors a biennial International Sacred Dance Festival, a celebration of sacred dance attracting dancers of all levels, backgrounds, ages, and spiritualities. Participants come from around the world for a week of unique workshops, classes, performances, ritual experiences, networking and joyful dancing. All are welcome. See it for yourself. Watch the video to experience our Golden Anniversary Festival "Moving Mysteries" (2008) at Connecticut College.

Festival workshop leaders and faculty are among the finest in sacred dance and mind/body modalities, offering various dance forms from a unique blend of religious, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

Dancers and non-dancers alike share the opportunity to experience movement as worship, prayer, healing, meditation, as an agent of change, as a message of peace, and as recreation.
